  • Project description: The project would be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because this initiative brings together healthcare providers, housing partners, and criminal justice agencies to close critical service gaps at the intersection of homelessness, health, and justice. By expanding our Street Medicine program, advancing medical respite planning, and deepening collaboration with the Harris County Sheriff's Office and Houston Police Department, we aim to reduce avoidable emergency use, improve outcomes, and support long-term recovery for vulnerable residents.

The combination of these improvements will create a safe, more efficient intersection, directly benefiting the community.

PROJECT NAME: Hermann Park Northeast Connectivity Mobility Improvements

  • Project description: The funding would be used to provide off-street shared use paths, crossing improvements, and fill in gaps in the sidewalk network primarily along Hermann Drive between Sunset Boulevard and just south of Concert Drive. The project would be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will improve one of Houston’s most regionally significant activity centers that connects Downtown, Midtown, Museum Park, and the Texas Medical Center (TMC) and welcomes approximately six million visitors per year.

Nurses are essential in providing safe, culturally sensitive care and addressing the unique healthcare needs of diverse communities. Nursing programs must ensure that students are adequately prepared to meet these needs, which this project would help to do.

  • Project description: By providing a new parallel storm sewer trunkline, and potentially restoring segments of the existing storm sewer trunkline, this project seeks to reduce flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County and alleviate structural flood damage to the homes in the area. This will reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA.
