PROJECT NAME: Command and Control Training Center

- Project description: This project will construct a Command-and-Control training center at the Houston Fire Department’s training academy that will train and qualify emergency management personnel to plan for and mitigate large scale incidents and events using the National Incident Management System (NIMS). It will prepare emergency management personnel for real-life situations using fully immersive training that will build readiness, boost learning retention, and decrease training costs.

PROJECT NAME: Edgewood Multi-Use Park

- Project description: A portion of Edgewood Park will be used to create 8.5 acres-feet of recreational detention for planned improvements in the Sunnyside/South Park Neighborhood. The detention will support storm sewer improvements on Southbank Street. The neighborhood has experienced repetitive flood losses and would benefit from the storm sewer upgrade and detention capacity, by protecting homes and other structures from flood damage.

PROJECT NAME: Food Security Infrastructure

- The amount requested by the recipient: $650,000.00
- Project description: This project will increase food security across several areas of TX-09. Full funding would allow for Fondren Seventh-Day Adventist to complete two unfinished portable buildings (sheet rock and installation, electrical, heat and cooling, a ramp for clients with limited mobility, and a concrete pad), installation of two commercial refrigerators to stop produce spoilage as well as shelving (bracketing and labeling) and purchase of a motorized pallet jack to increase storage capacity. The second part of the project would allow for Abiding Faith United Methodist Church/ABBA's Pantry to construct a new standard client choice pantry along with construction of a driveway for ease of client access. The last part of the project would support Bethel's Heavenly Hands in developing a 5,000 sq. ft. hub for mass delivery and sorting that would serve over 700 clients a week in additional to the two additional organizations that receive nutritious food from this one hub.

PROJECT NAME: HAWC Future Forward - HAWC's Plan for Survivor Safety and Stability

- Project description: To address the critical unmet safety needs of domestic violence survivors throughout the region, HAWC has undertaken a $45 million expansion project designed to transform its service delivery model to increase safety and improve access to life-saving services. This project will expand and renovate facilities on the existing flagship campus to create a hub that accommodates both residential and non-residential services in a unified, secure, undisclosed setting. New construction will include a 135-units emergency supportive housing facility that will triple HAWC’s capacity to house 360 survivors for up to 12 months. Renovation will reimagine the existing shelter building and transform it into a community-hub and administrative location for HAWC’s empowerment service delivery. As HAWC embarks on this expansion, we hope the Subcommittee will join us in supporting women and children, a disproportionate number of which are people of color, in escaping violence and equipping them with the tools they need to change their lives.

PROJECT NAME: Houston Hobby Airport Aircraft Rescue and Fire-Fighting Station

- Project description: The Houston Airport System is proposing to demolish the existing fire station and build a new Aircraft Rescue and Fire-Fighting (ARFF) Station at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU). The new station will be 20,513 gross square feet and include 6 apparatus bays, administrative offices, dormitories, a common area, and parking. Additionally, the fire station will have direct access to Taxiways K and J. The Houston Airport System is seeking $5 million, and the total project cost is $19 million. Ultimately, this effort will serve a significant safety function, as well as create construction jobs and expanded opportunities for firefighters and airport personnel.

PROJECT NAME: Multi-Use Park – E.P.Hill

- Project description: This project will convert portion of EP Hill Park into a 5 acre-feet recreational stormwater detention basin for the Sunnyside neighborhood. The creation of multi-use detention will benefit future drainage improvements to the Sunnyside storm sewer system.

PROJECT NAME: Pro-Vision Villages at Chocolate Bayou
- Requesting party and proposed recipient: Pro-Vision, Inc.
- Address of the recipient: 2656 South Loop West, Suite 650 Houston, Texas 77054
- The amount requested by the recipient: $7,500,000.00
- Project description: Pro-Vision Villages at Chocolate Bayou will become a transformative development for the Sunnyside Community that will be comprised of senior living, multi-family and single-story housing. The development proposes a total of 243 family units, 185 senior units, and 34 cottages to be built in a 3-phased approached to bring $106 million of new housing options to the Sunnyside Community. Pro-Vision is requesting a $7.5 million appropriation to develop Phase I at a cost of $48.7 million which will create 246 one-, two- and three-bedroom units for families. This project furthers Pro-Vision’s mission to inspire hope and purpose into young people, families, and communities, through access to academic, economic, and social enrichment.

PROJECT NAME: Southwest Civic Core Campus – Phase 1

- Project description: The Southwest Civic Core Campus project is a collaboration between the Southwest Houston Redevelopment Authority, City of Houston, Southwest Houston Management District, Gulfton Management District, Connect Community (non-profit), and Legacy Community Health (non-profit). The purpose of the project is to redevelop an existing underutilized public property in a way which will address a multitude of community needs related to quality of life, economic vitality, and community development in Southwest Houston.

PROJECT NAME: Space Healthcare and Training Program

- Project description: The BCM Space Healthcare and Training Program will be a vital and salient addition to the vibrant and expanding commercial space community in Houston. The program will furnish biomedical training and education for commercial space companies having a footprint in Houston. It will utilize state-of-the-art medical and scientific equipment for medical and longitudinal evaluation of commercial spaceflight participants locally through a space medicine clinic. The program will support faculty, fellows and staff, and promote community outreach and awareness of space medicine as a key aspect of commercial human spaceflight. The BCM Space Healthcare and Training Program will be a comprehensive and integrated endeavor that will build on existing infrastructure and capabilities at BCM, and that it will scale to successfully meet a growing demand for its services.

PROJECT NAME: Sunnyside Agricultural Hub and Training Center (“AgriHub”)

- Project description: The Sunnyside Agricultural Hub and Training Center (“AgriHub”) is a 6.2243 acre parcel of land set across Reed Road from a former 240-acre landfill that’s being converted into the nation’s largest urban solar farm. The Agri Hub will be a community-driven aquaponic greenhouse and training center. The Agri Hub will be a training center for biodiversity subjects, including aquaponics, bee keeping, bioremediation, and native plants education and sustainment.
