(Washington, D.C.) — On Saturday, August 15, 2026, Congressman Al Green will host Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. for a historic Slavery Remembrance Legislative Update and Assembly to implement a National Day of Slavery Remembrance on August 20th annually. The annual event will help ensure the evils of slavery are never forgotten and thus never repeated. (Houston, TX) — On Thursday, August 6, 2026, a symbolic check for $500,000 will be presented to the Hiram Clarke/Fort Bend Redevelopment Authority (HCFBRA). The funding, awarded through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Community-Wide Brownfield Assessment Grant Program, will support HCFBRA's work serving Fort Bend County and Southwest Houston.
