(Houston, Texas) — On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, Congressman Al Green released the following statement:

“The acquisition of Discover Financial Services by Capital One Financial, pending federal regulators’ approval, raises many concerns about competition and consumer welfare. Capital One is among the largest banks in the nation, reporting $36.8 billion in total net revenue for 2023. Discover operates one of the largest payment networks in the country, reporting $2.9 billion in net income for 2023.


February 12, 2024

(Washington, D.C.) — On Thursday, February 8, 2024, Congressman Al Green’s and Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia’s senior staff members toured the United States Postal Service (USPS) North Houston and South Houston (Missouri City) Mail Processing Centers in response to prior and ongoing complaints from constituents regarding delayed and failed mail delivery. The USPS officials that conducted the tour provided responsive updates on the chronic delays and the material steps they are taking to resolve the past and current problems.

(Houston, TX) — On Monday, February 12, 2024, Congressman Al Green observed National Salute to Veteran Patients Week by leading the distribution of U.S. Constitutions and 1,100 American flags that were flown over the U.S. Capitol to Veterans. The distribution took place at the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (MEDVAMC) to honor and extend appreciation to the brave men and women who have served and protected our nation.

(Washington, D.C.) — On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, Congressman Al Green and Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia convened a meeting with the Inspector General for the USPS. The meeting addressed ongoing mail delivery delays at the United States Postal Service (USPS) North Houston and South Houston Distribution Processing Centers. The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) disclosed that they are conducting an audit of the South Houston (Missouri City) Local Processing Center’s operational challenges and backlog of packages.


January 30, 2024

(Washington, D.C.) — On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, Congressman Al Green together with representatives from the offices of Rep. Sylvia Garcia and Chair Michael McCaul met with representatives from the National Association of Postal Supervisors (NAPS). NAPS is an organization representing approximately 27,000 active and retired United States Postal Service (USPS) supervisors, managers, and postmasters. The meeting addressed the mail delivery delays within the USPS North Houston and Missouri City Processing and Distribution Centers.
