Martinez, a LULAC social justice leader and U.S. Army Korean War era veteran. Congresswoman Garcia, with Congressman Al Green as a co-sponsor, introduced and successfully passed H.R. 203, which designates the United States Postal Service facility located at 4020 Broadway Street in Houston, Texas, as the “Benny C. Martinez Post Office Building.”
