(Washington, DC)--On February 15, 2013, the House Financial Services Committee approved the Oversight Plan for the committee for the 113th Congress. The House Financial Services Committee Oversight Plan contains three amendments sponsored by Congressman Al Green (TX-09). The three amendments, passed by voice vote on February 14, 2013, are related to: (1) the effects of cuts to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) brought on by sequestration, (2) veterans housing, and (3) the Fair Housing Act of 1968.

(Washington, DC)--On February 13, 2013, Congressman Al Green (TX-09) introduced the Students Voicing Opinions in Today’s Elections Act of 2013 (Students VOTE Act) in the House of Representatives. The bill will provide funds to school districts and/or local education agencies to impart voter registration information to high school seniors prior to graduation. The funds will be allocated by the Election Assistance Commission through a pilot program.

(Washington, DC)--On February 12, 2013, Congressman Al Green introduced a resolution honoring the 104th anniversary of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). The resolution was introduced with 41 original cosponsors, including members of the Congressional Black Caucus, as well as the chairs of the Congressional Hispanic and Asian Pacific American Caucuses.
