Rep. Al Green Highlights How Young Workers and DACA Recipients Support Social Security

June 15, 2026

(Houston, TX) — On Monday, June 15, 2026, Congressman Al Green joined Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia, Congressman Christian Menefee, and fellow advocates in commemorating the 14th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. During the press conference, Congressman Green highlighted the vital role DACA recipients and other young workers play in supporting the nation's economy and Social Security system. He noted that as fertility rates decline and immigration slows, fewer workers will be available to contribute to the system, making the contributions of immigrant workers increasingly important to sustaining benefits for older Americans.
