Congressman Al Green’s Statement on Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day

April 28, 2022

(Washington, D.C.) — On Thursday, April 28, 2022, Congressman Al Green released the following statement:

“To forget would be not only dangerous but offensive; to forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time.”

 - Elie Wiesel

“Every year on Yom HaShoah, we honor the memory of the approximately six million Jewish persons who lost their lives in the Holocaust. This day of remembrance reminds us of our solemn duty as the living to remember the sins of the past and ensure they are never repeated. We cannot be indifferent to the dehumanization and systemic extermination that an entire people faced if we wish to leave a better world for posterity. This morning I had the opportunity to speak on the House floor in observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day. I pledge to continue speaking up against anti-Semitism, as well as all forms of hatred, oppression, and invidious discrimination, not only today but every day and invite you to join me in upholding the commitment to never forget. Never again.”
