Congressman Al Green’s Statement on President Obama Signing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act into Law

On Tuesday, July 22, 2014, Congressman Al Green released the following statement on President Obama signing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act into law.

“The bipartisan Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act aims to ensure that the $17 billion currently allotted for federal job training is being used efficiently and effectively to engender job growth. This will include $25 million to develop a web-based skills academy for adult workers to compete in the fast-paced global economy and strengthen our middle class. The bottom-line is this legislation should lead to more people, including the disabled and veterans, having the opportunities to obtain training and education which can stimulate job creation. Job creation that will benefit individuals, families, and entire communities.”
