Congressman Al Green Votes to Save USPS and the Right to Vote by Mail

August 22, 2020

(Washington, D.C.) – On Saturday, August 22, 2020, Congressman Al Green released the following statement regarding the passage of H.R. 8015, the Delivering for America Act:

“Today, I am proud to have supported H.R. 8015 to save the United States Postal Service from the current attack it is under by President Trump in his attempts to thwart voting by mail,” said Congressman Al Green. “America needs an act of Congress to help the Postal Service, and before we can achieve an act of Congress, we need a Congress that is willing to act. The Delivering for America Act is the third attempt by the people’s House to help USPS, but the Senate has been inactive."

Congressman Green continued, “We cannot achieve an act of Congress with one house acting and the other – the United States Senate – refusing to act. Americans are counting on the whole of Congress to act to not only save the Postal Service but to save their jobs, save their life-saving medications, save their Social Security checks, save their businesses, save their correspondence with loved ones near and far, and save their voting ballots. America needs the Senate to act and pass H.R. 8015 immediately."
