(Houston, TX)—On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Congressman Al Green sent a letter to U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, U.S. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer requesting a joint hearing to investigate reports of what may be extrajudicial killings (lynchings) of Black Americans found hanging from nooses in the United States. The letter follows Congressman Green’s September 6, 2026, ICYMI highlighting a Washington Informer article titled, “Found Hanging: Black Deaths, Unanswered Questions and an American Terror That Refuses to Stay in the Past.”
