Congressman Al Green, Public Officials, and Special Guests Host Renaming Ceremony at Stafford Post Office to Commemorate Mayor Leonard Scarcella

(Houston, TX) — On Friday, December 15, 2023, Congressman Al Green, Stafford Mayor Ken Matthew, public officials, and special guests will host a renaming ceremony at a U.S. Post Office in Stafford, Texas, honoring the late Mayor Leonard Scarcella. 

This ceremony will include a statement by Congressman Al Green and public officials, as well as special remarks from close family and friends of Mayor Scarcella. This occasion was made possible by the passage of Congressman Green’s legislation in the 117th Congress, H.R. 5865, designating the Leonard Scarcella Post Office Building. With bipartisan support, the bill was cosponsored by all members of the Texas Congressional delegation, emphasizing the enduring legacy of Mayor Scarcella.

Congressman Al Green stated, “In the renaming of this Post Office, we pay homage to the esteemed Mayor Leonard Scarcella, a leader whose impact on Stafford was immeasurable. Through H.R. 5865, we ensure his legacy as one of the longest-serving mayors in American history remains, representing a bipartisan commitment to honoring those who shape our communities for the better.”
