Congressman Al Green Delivers Over 700 American Flags and Constitutions to Veterans in Honor of National Salute to Veteran Patients Week

(Houston, TX) – On Monday, February 14, 2022, Congressman Al Green (TX-09) released the following statement:

“It is my singular honor and superlative pleasure to recognize those men and women who have willingly risked their lives for the good of our country. They were willing to sacrifice more than creature comforts. They literally put their lives on the line, for which they merit the best a grateful nation has to offer,” Congressman Al Green said. “I salute our American heroes every day, but especially today, as we kick off the annual week-long celebration to honor them for their service.”

Congressman Al Green has distributed thousands of American flags flown over the U.S. Capitol, together with American constitutions, to veterans for over a decade. This expression of gratitude and humble token of appreciation is realized every year in honor of National Salute to Veteran Patients Week, which is celebrated annually during the week of February 14.

“National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week is a great time to thank Veterans for their service,” said Frank Vazquez, Medical Center Director. “As a Veteran myself, I can tell you that it means so much when members of our community like Congressman Green visit our medical center and honor our Veterans in person.”
