(Houston, TX) – On Friday, March 20, 2020, Congressman Al Green released the following statement regarding the opening of the testing site at Butler Stadium:

“I thank Mayor Turner for having me team up with him and for opening this facility at Butler Stadium, in the Ninth Congressional District. This testing facility will increase our ability to identify COVID-19 cases in the Greater Houston area and protect our first responders – who risk their lives to save our lives,” said Congressman Al Green at the opening of the drive thru COVID-19 testing site.

He added, “I am proud to continue working with my colleagues from all levels of government to flatten the curve and to help end the global COVID-19 crisis. I must applaud Mayor Turner for his prudent use of our federal resources. I look forward to working with key personnel from the City of Houston, Harris County, Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support this facility as it works to serve the surrounding community during this time. United, we can defeat this global health threat for ourselves and generations to come.”
