Congressman Al Green Cosponsors, Supports Dream and Promise Act

Mar 18, 2021

(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, March 18, 2021, Congressman Al Green released the following statement in support of the Dream and Promise Act, of which he is a proud cosponsor:

“I am honored to support H.R. 6, the Dream and Promise Act, which will protect Dreamers as well as Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients,” stated Congressman Al Green – a longtime proponent of comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship. “During the last presidential administration, there were constant attacks on our nation’s immigration system. From the use of xenophobic rhetoric to an Islamophobic travel ban, the Trump Administration abandoned the beckoning call of the Statue of Liberty for the tired, poor, and huddled masses yearning to breathe free to find their solace and opportunity in the United States.”

“The Dream and Promise Act aligns with the Biden-Harris Administration’s strong commitment to dismantling harmful Trump-era immigration policies that impeded a pathway to citizenship. I am proud to support and vote in favor of this landmark legislation and hope to see it immediately enacted.”
