Congressman Al Green’s Statement on Possible Voter Registration Irregularities in Waller County, Texas

Oct 11, 2018

(Prairie View, TX) - On Thursday, October 11, 2018, Congressman Al Green released the following statement regarding possible voter registration irregularities in Waller County, Texas:

“I have received reports that students registered to vote on campus at Prairie View A&M may be required to vote at an off campus location on election day. These reports could depress voter turnout or dissuade students from exercising their right to vote.”

“Unfortunately, Waller County has a long history of voter disenfranchisement as it relates to African-Americans and the students at Prairie View. I have alerted the U.S. Department of Justice to these reports, and look forward to working with Prairie View and Waller County to find a solution for these students before the general election on November 6, 2018.”
